What was your favourite class in high school?
Law 11 and English 12.

What was your first job?
A summer project co-ordinator tasked to research various professional fields.

Who was your role model growing up? Why?
My role models were, and still continue to be, my parents. They were both stellar athletes in their younger days, their life-long confidence building positive outlook coupled with the 'go-getter' attitude they modeled to us helped to establish a career path to follow. Two athletes whom I was positively and memorably effected by were Olga Korbit and Nadia Komanich. My continuing source of inspiration are the current and past Olympic and Paralympic athletes

What is a quote or saying that you live by?
I have kind of grown attached to "If challenge doesn't find Lilo, Lilo will find challenge!" However, I do have these two I particularly like…

"Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical and expecting more than others think is possible." - Author Unknown

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be? Why?
Jesus Christ. "He's got all the answers, and we just haven't got it right".

Additional Information:

Birthday: December 17th
City that you were born: Beograd, Yugoslavia
City that you live: Coquitlam, BC
How many brothers and sisters do you have? One younger brother by three years

What does "success" mean for you?
It means that I am comfortable, confident and happy in my own skin. It means that living my life to its fullest potential is worth all the effort, sacrifice and risk. Living your life with a No Limits approach has allowed me to face any challenge and realize great many successes I would never ever have imagined otherwise!

What is the strongest motivational force in your life?

Wanting to be the best and then going out and doing whatever it takes, in a positive and creative way, to make it a reality. Fear of failure and desire for success can work really well if used positively to motivate us towards reaching personal goals.

What do you consider to be your greatest personal accomplishment?
Winning a gold medal and setting a New World record at my 3rd Paralympics is a time and a place where I go when this question is asked. Why? Because by Barcelona, and as a result of a great many complications and hospitalizations, I had lost all my sight. I knew that my life and all that I wished to achieve would from that time forward always be more challenging, difficult and time consuming. With what I managed to prove to myself and the attitude I adopted at that time in my life I have continued to improve in the way I face life and its many obstacles and rewards.

How did you achieve it?
Despite all of the difficulties and frustrations I had experienced, I somehow found the courage and commitment not to give up…not to quit. Today, I am the only totally blind athlete who fully spins with a discus. Why? Because, even though I may have been tempted so many times to give up, I never did. It is so important to believe in yourself all the while challenging yourself to do the very best that you can with the talents, skills, adversities and opportunities you have been blessed with.

What are some of your favourite Internet links?
My voice synthesized laptop and I travel all over the world and go to all sorts of different places. However, we don't do much for web surfing for the main reason that I still don't find the Internet all that accessible for blind users. However, my personal favorites are www.esteemteam.com and www.liloinspires.com!
